I went to a funeral last Thursday for a very special man. I haven’t been to a funeral in years let alone a church. Funerals are sad, but can also be inspiring. As I looked around the church, I saw so many people that I haven’t seen in years. These people were once a part of my life, and some of them still are. Good memories of years gone past flooded my thoughts and I felt happy, not sad. ‘Henry’ brought good people together. This does not surprise me, and I don’t know why this came to me as a revelation but it did. I respected this man, not because he was a successful businessman but because he had a good value system. He earned the respect of others by instilling his values in his work and believing in himself and others. Many of his values live on in the staff, the team he built that made his business one of the best places to work in Vancouver. In that moment of revelation, I did not fear death. I felt inspired to continue to work on myself and be the best that I can be. I felt happy and lucky to have made such wonderful friends and acquaintances over the years, and most importantly to have known Henry.
It’s like heaven in my mouth. No, seriously! The moment that Earth Balance Coconut and Peanut Butter touched my taste buds, I was addicted. Much like Brangelina, coconut and peanut butter have an undeniable chemistry. Two healthy and respected foods married into one creamy, flavorful and scrumptious spread. A little taste of Thailand on toast, it’s really too much to handle!
I first heard of Earth Balance from a vegetarian friend who has done tons of research on foods and vitamins and is a dedicated animal activist. Taking her advice, I purchased the soy-free buttery spread and was very pleased with the creamy taste and the fact that it was dairy-free. So when I haphazardly came across the Coconut and Peanut Butter Spread, I just HAD to try it. I love it so much that it deserves a shout out, and so does Earth Balance.
Earth Balance describe themselves as an ‘organic-minded’ company. Originating in Colarado, the company uses products that are 100% plant-based, vegan, non-GMO, lactose-free, gluten-free, egg-free, casein-free, and have 0g of trans fat. And guess what else? Earth Balance is committed to health and environmental responsibility. I will continue to buy these products, not only because they taste so fabulous, but because of what they stand for. Eat good, feel good, do good.
I want this ring. I must have this ring. I have had an obsession with Wonder Woman since I was a little girl and I have never wanted anything more than I have wanted this ring. Ok, maybe that’s an overstatement, but nevertheless.. I WANT THIS RING! It’s 1700 dollars. Suddenly I am finding every excuse in my childhood memory bank as to why I should own this ring. The grown up me says “you are too old to wear a wonder woman ring” The little girl in me says “oh, but if you were a little girl you would not ever be able to afford such a gorgeous ring” The grown up in me says “I could eat Kraft Dinner for a month and be ok…” wait.. what am I thinking? Kraft Dinner? Maybe I could just go on dates with boring men and eat at fancy restaurants like that girl, Erin Wotherspoon in Toronto who got famous for blogging about it. Clearly I need to reevaluate my obsession with Wonder Woman or maybe next Christmas I should just ask Santa for the ring. I can be good for another 355 days….I MUST HAVE THIS RING!
A collection of lessons I learned in 2013 and over the years. Growth is an important part of life and I am thankful for having the opportunity to see challenges as just that. Growth. Happy New Year everyone!
